Shouting From the Roof Top: Mimi’s News

Join us Every Friday 8-10 p.m. for our

Open Mic Coffee House Evenings!:

We’ve had two fabulous seasons of Friday evening open mic nights!

Everyone who attends is struck by the array of musical talent in our community and we enjoy the random good fortune of visiting musicians

as well.  It’s all set to be a favorite alternative evening out.  See you soon!

Mimi’s Cafe is a member of the

Grey Bruce Agricultural & Culinary Association

This fantastic organization is in the forefront of the local foods movement & is doing an amazing job of connecting customers, restaurants, shops, producers & growers.  Check out their website.  And watch for our ad on this year’s edition of the local foods map coming out later this month.  We distribute them at the cafe & we call them “treasure maps” for good reason!

Mimi’s the Scene of a Special Reunion:

Thursday August 27 we were honoured to be present for the

reunion of Eva Nickel and four of her former high school

students from Belmont Continuation School in Belmont,

Ontario, class of 1942 to 1944!  All these years later, the four friends decided to look up their teacher after talking together about

the important influence she’d had on their lives.  They found her,

and travelled up from the London area for a reunion and to catch up

on the last 60 some years!  We feel so privileged to have met these wonderful women!

P.S. She is still their favorite teacher!

Mimi’s has been designated as a
Top Local Foods Restaurant!
From the Foodlink Grey Bruce Website:
Foodlink Grey Bruce would like to congratulate these restaurateurs for their exceptional support of our local farms and for the quality of food and service they provide. They not only offer impressive local dining, they are an inspiration!
It takes dedication to source this much food locally and they're not just riding on the popularity of locavorism, they walk the talk - they are the real deal - the advocates we need to rebuild our local food system.
And if you look closer you'll see their generous community spirit in action - supporting radio shows and musical events... and desire to live in greater harmony with nature...GOOD ON THEM we say!
